Since we do not want you to miss a single one, we show you a selection of the best beaches on Koh Tao:

Mae Haad

Mae Haad Bay is near the Koh Tao pier and less than 50 metres from La Bombona Diving – Cafe. The sand is soft and white, and the water is clear, ideal for snorkelling trips.

You can rent kayaks from several shops in the area, therefore it tends to be a good starting point for any aquatic activity, that or getting a taxi-boat to tour the island.

Sairee Beach

Sairee Beach, situated in the west of the island, is the biggest beach on Koh Tao. The sand is ideal to lie down and the water is almost crystal clear.

The sea is calm, with hardly any waves, and not very deep, ideal for families with small children. In the evenings, Sairee Beach is transformed into a magical place with breath-taking sunsets.

Freedom Beach

Freedom Beach is one of the most popular coves on Koh Tao. The beach is quite small and has a private and intimate atmosphere that makes it perfect for a break.

This place is ideal for lying down on your hammock, taking some inspiring pictures, swimming in crystal clear waters, and snorkelling over its beautiful corals.

Jansom Bay

Jansom Bay is a private beach that can be accessed going through Sensi Paradise Resort. If you would like to visit it, you will need to pay an entrance fee of 200 baht.

It is worth it if you are looking for a well-preserved corner, due to its lack of boat traffic, also rich in marine life.

Nang Yuan Island

Koh Nang Yuan is one of the jewels of Koh Tao, although in fact it is a neighbouring island… It is considered one of the most beautiful and spectacular locations in the world.

Situated just 400 metres from the north of Koh Tao, it is comprised of three small islands connected by a shiny, white sand strip with ocean to both sides.

The water that surrounds it is full of colourful corals and plentiful marine life, so it is ideal for snorkelling in its semi-shallow waters.

You are expected to pay 100 Baht to enter Koh Nang Yuan and, to avoid littering, you are not allowed to enter the island carrying plastic bottles or cans.

Thian Og Bay (Shark Bay)

Thian Og Bay, also known as Shark Bay, is a striking beach of without direct access. You will have to cut across the Laem Thian resort to explore the beach but it is free and is definitely worth it.

The water is turquoise in colour and if you visit it between 3pm and 5pm you will be able to swim with blacktip reef sharks, as they populate that area.

Tanote Bay

Tanote Bay is situated on the east coast of Koh Tao anake enough sunscreen and water to keep hydrated. ‘hich you can jump into the sea like Tarzan. , as they d it stands out due to its rock formations, from which you can jump into the sea like Tarzan.

And of course, the beach invites you to bask in the sun, and snorkel in its crystal clear waters. There is not a lot of shade on this beach, so don’t forget to take enough sunscreen and water to keep hydrated.

Mango Bay

Mango Bay is situated in such a remote area to the north of Koh Tao that it will make you feel that you are in a tropical paradise, like those you have seen so often in the movies.

To make it even more exclusive, the access to Mango Bay by road is difficult, so we advise you to take a taxi-boat or a taxi car (4 x 4).

You will arrive at a peaceful space, with a calm sea and an outstanding visibility. Perfect for snorkelling!

Laem Thian

Are you looking for a deserted beach? Laem Thian is the place!
The beach is deeper than other areas, so it is ideal for snorkelling, you will see bigger fish, like barracudas and some groupers.

The background stage is a jungle, there are big rocks in the water and you floating in the middle, incredible!

Hen Wong Bay

Hin Wong Bay is a beach with very little sand in the east of Koh Tao. It is recommended to visit it on a kayak, because the ground is rocky and there is not much to see in the surrounding areas.

Like everywhere on the island, the water is crystal clear and very good for enjoying the colourful fish and corals.

Aow Leuk Bay

Aow Leuk Bay has a beach that is wonderfully quiet and you will find it in the south of Koh Tao.

The beach is almost virgin, with white sand, turquoise water and coral reefs that outline both sides of the bay.
